During a crazy, long and threatening Toms River Council Meeting on Wednesday night, August 28th, Mayor Rodrick and Council continued their threats and intimidation of the residents of Toms River and endangering the welfare of the residents. At one point, Council President Coleman even stated “unless I have a gun, I can’t control this meeting.” Mayor Rodrick and several Council members disrespected and degraded members of Just Believe who came to address being locked out of the Riverwood Park building they have used for Code Blue, meetings and storage, as well as members who came to discuss other pressing township matters such as the Animal Shelter, Police Department, Snug Harbor Pool…. It was a real sh*t show.
During the meeting, Phil Brilliant addressed the Council about the termination of the BUILD Grant “Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development” that based upon the attachments and not the word of Mayor Rodrick was intended to construct the “Downtown Toms River Loop Road Project.” Read the resolutions, the Agreement and the Amendment for yourselves…”The project will construct a series of roadway improvements to create a loop between the Garden State Parkway and waterfront business district including elevation and reconstructing Herflicker Blvd as a one-way complete street, converting Water Street to a one-way complete street, upgrading Irons Street, Adafre Avenue and Highland Parkway to complete streets, and adding or improving traffic signalization at approximately eight intersections through the project area.” Toms River was to receive $5,660,000 of FEDERAL money that specifically would also construct safe roadways to “act as an evacuation route to the Garden State Parkway in the event of a flood emergency.” Read it for yourself, Mayor Rodrick continues to lie!
