On April 30, 2025, Board of Education President Ashley Lamb, who’s husband is Toms River Council President Justin Lamb voted to reject a 2025-2026 Toms River School Budget with a 12.9% tax increase setting up a similar situation to last year that resulted in a spending plan with a nearly 10% tax increase to Toms River residents. While Mrs. Lamb’s vote will mostly cause another tax increase to Toms River residents, the Lamb’s continue to pay less than their share of property taxes on their new house in Toms River. As of today, the May 1, 2025 tax payment of $498.20 with interest, has yet to be paid, even though this is not their fair share of Toms River taxes. The Lamb’s don’t believe rules, laws and now taxes apply to them.
On April 30, 2025, Mrs. Lamb said “I just want to say while I know that this sounds difficult because we do need to fund our district, we are not providing anything thorough and efficient.” Mrs. Lamb went on to say “Our kids deserve a lot more. The only reason we cannot give that to them is because of the state of New Jersey. Since the S2 formula was implemented, nobody can tell us where the money is going, and explain why our kids are constantly disenfranchised.” Though we 100% agree that the school budget issues in Toms River, as well as many districts similar to Toms River are not receiving their fair share in money from Trenton, we believe everyone, including the Lamb’s must pay their fair share of taxes. It should also be noted that based upon a recent public notice, the Lamb’s do not have children, so it is unclear how Mrs. Lamb represented herself as “New Jersey Parent” on Fox News in 2022.
It should be important that our community leaders, lead by example. DO NOT LIE…DO NOT CHEAT…DO NOT BREAK THE LAW…PAY YOUR TAXES JUSTIN AND ASHLEY LAMB!
