
OPRA request of the New Jersey Department of Education has revealed additional information on “Matter of the Tenure Hearing of Daniel Rodrick, School District of the Township of Middletown, Monmouth County. No decisions or results, but the investigative process and filings between the parties are ongoing and there has been no mention of any relief in the case. Read the facts for yourself, so that Daniel Rodrick’s position of a “political witch hunt” is clearly debunked. Since Daniel Rodrick has not been seen around town or at Town Hall, we now know what he has been working on…saving his future!
On January 30, 2025, Bruce Padula, Esq., counsel to the Middletown Township Board of Education provided a correspondence and 8 exhibits (copies are not yet made available). The NJ Department of Education acknowledged receipt of the “certified tenure charges” and respondent must reply in 15 days. Also provides that Sanford Oxfeld of Oxfeld & Cohen, and Donald Burke, Jr. are representing Daniel Rodrick.
A February 12, 2025 correspondence from Jennifer Simons, Director of the Office of Controversies and Disputes in the NJ Department of Education has confirmed “receipt of the respondent’s answer…have been reviewed and deemed sufficient, if true, to warrant dismissal or reduction in salary, subject to determination by the arbitrator of the respondent’s defense and any motions which may be filed with the arbitrator.” The charges have now been referred to Arbitrator Walter De Treux. All outcomes will be posted on the NJ Department of Education’s website.
Walt De Treux has been a labor and employment arbitrator and mediator since 1999 and has worked in the labor management field since 1982. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University (B.A., Labor Studies, 1983) and Temple University School of Law (J.D. 1987), Mr. De Truex has an extensive labor and employment arbitration and mediation practice in a wide range of industries and issues. He also develops and conducts extensive training for advocates and arbitrators. Mr. De Truex previously served as Counsel to the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters and its subordinate bodies. He has also worked in legal and leadership positions with the Pennsylvania Senate Appropriations Committee and Philadelphia City Council.
